Job Summary:
Cayoose Creek Band is seeking highly motivated physically fit, experienced forestry (fuel management) Chainsaw Operator to assist with wildfire mitigation. This demanding role requires a commitment to safety and ability to perform essential job functions in a variety of challenging environmental conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safe cutting, falling, de-branching, and piling of trees and bushes as a team;

  • Diligent in ensuring equipment maintenance and care;

  • Follows safety protocols & procedures re: outdoor hazards and extreme weather events;

  • Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all workplace safety policies, procedures and regulations, including proper handling and use of PPE;

Skills and Experience

  •  Experience running a chainsaw for extended periods in extreme weather conditions;

  • Manual dexterity and physically able to handle tools and equipment effectively in all conditions;

  • Willingness to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays as required by operational needs;

Qualifications:

  • Current chainsaw safety training certification or support of previous supervisor indicating skill level and safety knowledge (verification of certificate or letter required)

  • Past successful experience running a chainsaw for extended periods of time

  • Experience working safely with a team in the bush in varying weather conditions

  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 and Class 5 Drivers License;

  • Criminal Record Check required


SALARY RANGE: $ 26 – 29 per hour based on qualifications and experience
TERM: 6-month term employment with potential for permanent employment
SCOPE: Seasonal Position, up to 35 Hours Per Week
