POSITION: Seasonal Forestry Labourers
WORK HOURS: Full time Seasonal Position
REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor
SUPERVISES: None
Job Summary:
Cayoose Creek Band is seeking highly motivated physically fit, experienced forestry (fuel management) labourers to assist with wildfire mitigation. This demanding role requires a commitment to safety and ability to perform essential job functions in a variety of challenging environmental conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety protocols and procedures especially those related to outdoor hazards and extreme weather events while collaborating with team members on all aspects of fuel management;

  • Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all workplace safety policies, procedures and regulations, including proper handling and use of PPE;

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending and kneeling for extended periods of time;

  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry heavy materials up to 50 lbs frequently;

  • Manual dexterity and physically able to handle tools and equipment effectively in all conditions;

  • Willingness to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays as required by operational needs;

  • Previous experience in fuel management;

  • Physically fit and knowledgeable about working in adverse weather conditions;

Qualifications:

  • Experience with forestry or ecological restoration work;

  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 and Class 5 Drivers License;

  • Criminal Record Check required
