The Mental Health and Wellness Worker will work as an integral member of the Kanaka Bar Indian Band Health Team. The position will provide counselling and holistic support services that align with Kanaka Bar’s cultural values and beliefs for health, intellectual, emotional, physical, traditional, and spiritual wellbeing.

The Health and Wellness Worker role will include, but not limited to:
• Assessment, intake services, case management and consultation, treatment, family therapy and education, referral to day treatment programs, in-home support, and parenting programs
• Performing intake evaluations and assessments
• Coordinate, lead, and/or participate in case conferences
• Develop cultural support/activities
• Provide clinical counselling
• As appropriate, provide referrals to traditional healers and other support services

• Minimum Human Services Diploma or related field or
• Bachelor’s in Social Work
• 2 years (recent) direct counselling experience, experience in community development, family support work and group facilitation
• Knowledge of social, economic and health issues relevant to First Nations Community
• 1st Aid
• Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check, required
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License

Working Conditions
• Full-Time Monday to Friday 8am-4pm
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends, as needed
