Description

The Event Planner/Health Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the filing system in both hard copy and electronic format for various department and assist in the coordination of activities for various departments and programs for Sekw'el'was (Cayoose Creek). In consultation with the Director of Health and Research, they will assist with data entry, payment processing and assist in planning and organizing programs for Sekw'el'was.

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the policies , standards and procedures, and as directed by those department heads.
  • Maintains client confidentiality.
  • Provides office assistance o various departments as needed.
  • Maintaining the filing system in both hard copy and electronic format for various departments;
  • Assist in the coordination of activities for various departments and programs;
  • Assist in putting together information/notices to provide to members ensuring that they have knowledge of all programs and activities.
  • Complete Patient Travel Warrants by following First Nations Health Authority's policies and regulations.
  • Organize invoices, purchase orders, and claims for medical supplies.
  • Organize the schedules and meeting for the Director of Health and Research.
  • Plan and organize for meetings or events for these programs.
  • Provide traditional/cultural, sports, support, referrals, and awareness to the community.
  • Work with other professionals and community to respond to community needs
  • Develop and create prevention and education programs, support groups, and host community events.
  • Network and distribute information.
  • Work effectively in constantly changing conditions while maintaining excellent performance/
  • Take accountability for the maintenance and operations of our Indigenous programs.
  • Other duties as assigned;

SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent filing, organizational and communication skills
  • Administrative support experience, education and/or training.
  • Must have strong teamwork and cooperation, service orientation skills, ability to work alone and as a part of a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations communities, culture and issues are essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Experience with Xyntax or other general ledger systems an asset
  • Working knowledge of office equipment including telephone, photocopier, scanner, and postage machine
  • Must haver interpersonal skills working with children
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a reliable vehicle
  • Capable of lifting up to 20 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a High School graduate and under the age of 30
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vunerable Sector Check
  • Medical Office Assistant Certificate (preferred) from an accredited Canadian Institution.

 

SALARY RANGE: $27.00 TO $29.00

TERM: INDEFINITE (UPON COMPLETION OF PROBATION)

SCOPE: FULL-TIME, 35 HOURS PER WEEK.
