Xwísten, Bridge River Indian Band, is seeking seasonal Fisheries Technicians. Holding this position comes with the responsibility of helping to conduct all aspects of the Lower Bridge River Aquatic Monitoring Programs i.e., BRGMON-1, BRGMON-3, Chinook Broodstock program, Rotary Screw Trap and other fisheries and environmental projects in Xwísten Territory. The position will require to work with and report to Xwísten’s Lands and Resources, as well as other Sub-Contractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
• Participate in field monitoring and data entry activities on a full-time basis.
• Develop and edit data sheets as needed in MS Word and Excel.
• Data entry of data sheets collected in the field.
• Certifications in: Electrofishing, OFA level 1 (higher, preferred), Transportation Endorsement, Swift Water Rescue, WPP Cat A/B.
• Must be able to work safely within a semi-remote location and in a team environment.
• Ability to work additional hours as required.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Must be comfortable communication with other in a professional manner on a regular basis by telephone, email and in person.
• Juvenile and Adult fish ID skills and knowledge of Bridge River salmon, is an asset.
• Experience working in rivers and wading
• Fisheries Technician Certificate Preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS (BOLD CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED)
• Backpack Electrofishing (Crew Supervisor and or crew member)
• OFA level 1 (higher, preferred)
• Transportation Endorsement
• Swift Water Rescue
• WPP Cat A/B
• Bear Aware
• Class 5 drivers’ licence & Reliable Vehicle

Wage: Senior Technician $28per hour and Junior Technician $26per hour
Hours: Varies due to project schedule
