Description

What are we looking for
The municipality seeks a new Manager of Public Works to lead a crew of eight dedicated full-time employees to operate and maintain:

  • A water treatment (new 5,000 m³ per day PALL micro-filter) and distribution system;

  • A sewage collection, treatment and disposal system;

  • An extensive road and sidewalk network;

  • A community cemetery;

  • An extensive parks and trails network;

  • A 3,000 ft airport runway and fueling station; and

  • A residential solid waste collection program

What you bring

  • A background in civil engineering, public administration, or something similar—plus a few years of hands-on experience in public works or municipal infrastructure.

  • Leadership skills that help you build a strong, safety-focused team where people feel supported and motivated.

  • A solid understanding of how towns run—especially when it comes to roads, utilities, and keeping things working smoothly behind the scenes.

  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, including budgets, timelines, and working with contractors and consultants.

  • Familiarity with water and wastewater systems, and the rules and regulations that go along with them (EOCP, WorkSafeBC, etc.).

  • Confidence with budgets and numbers—you know how to plan, track spending, and find funding when needed.

  • Great communication skills—you’re comfortable talking to Council, staff, and the public, and you know how to explain technical stuff in plain language.

  • A knack for building relationships and working well with others, whether it’s your team, other departments, or community partners.

If you don’t have all these qualifications, please contact us to discuss. The District may be willing to invest in the right candidate.

What you will gain

  • Opportunity to influence all aspects of municipal service delivery

  • A competitive wage rage of $90,000 to $105,000 based on your skills and qualifications

  • A comprehensive benefits package including enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan

  • A flexible work schedule as well as time off in lieu

  • Reimbursement for relocation expenses

  • Provisions for ongoing professional development
