Compensation: $20.00-$25.00/hr-Competitive salary based on experience
Hours: 35 hrs/week

POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth Coordinator plays a vital role in designing, implementing, and managing impactful programs that foster the development of young people. These initiatives focus on enhancing educational opportunities, promoting healthy recreational activities, and providing meaningful mentorship. The coordinator collaborates with schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations to create a supportive, engaging environment that empowers youth to thrive socially, academically, and emotionally. Through their efforts, the Youth Coordinator helps to cultivate the next generation of leaders and active community members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Set goals and objectives with youth to plan a regular monthly schedule of activities, such as homework, arts and crafts, games, gardening, cultural and science activities, recreation and sporting events, etc.

Establish and oversee a limited budget for your position, meals, snacks, and youth activities or trips.

Work cooperatively with T’it’q’et Staff (Administration, Health, Education, etc.) on coordinating activities and events for T’it’q’et Community Youth.

Prepare healthy snacks and/or perhaps dinners on “Dinner and Movie” nights

As required, coordinate fundraising events and volunteers; distribute advertising, calling people to ensure a good turnout for the event. Contact local and other vendors to secure donations or contributions for the fundraising event.

Be willing to travel, available for weekends and/or evening work, available on short notice, able to lift 50 pounds, etc., that relate to Youth Worker duties.

Might be required to contribute to the Youth Council when/if needed.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You will demonstrate your ability to be a positive role model and effective leader, showing initiative as a self-starter and collaborating well in teams. Strong communication, organizational, and creative thinking skills are essential.

Program Development: Design and implement activities, workshops, and events (sports, education, culture/tradition and arts).

Experience working with youth in a community or educational setting

Proficiency in descriptive writing and the operation of computers and business machines is required.

Supervises and monitors the Youth Worker and Trainees.

Ensures all policies of youth Centre operations are reviewed annually to comply with government standards and insurance standards.

Liaises with Youth Workers to maintain good communication and working relationships with parents and youth.
QUALIFICATIONS

Possess a BC Driver’s Class 5 license or better to operate the Youth Center Van or have youth passengers

Prefer Grade 12 and/or first year post-secondary courses, but Grade 10 would be acceptable with a combination of proven knowledge and experience in budgeting, finance, coordinating events, etc.

Must have/or be willing to complete Level 1 First Aid or better and a Food Safe certificate

Pass a vulnerable criminal record check and produce a Driver’s Abstract.
