P’egp’íg’lha Council (PC) is seeking a full-time, term-based Research Assistant to support the work of P’egp’íg’lha Law Development project through a extensive constitutional review and implementation. The role will work closely with the PC Director and Constitution Committee to review and analyze the P’egp’ig’lha constitution and summarize key provisions to support discussion and decision-making.
Term: Full-time for 6 months, with possibility of extension
Wages: $27-$30/hr; based on education and experience
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze the P’egp’íg’lha Constitution and identify key provisions, traditional laws, governance rules, and relevant policy or legal principles within the document
• Summarize findings in a clear and practical format to support Constitution committee discussions
• Assist in identifying areas that may require clarification or further interpretation for implementation
• Prepare written notes and summaries for committee use
• Attend Constitution Committee meetings as required
Qualifications:
• Strong research, writing, analytical and proofreading skills
• Background in governance, law, policy, or community-based decision-making (asset)
• Ability to analyse and interpret complex documents and summarize key points clearly
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of St’át’imc or Indigenous historical, political, and governance issues;
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and produce results within specified timelines;
• Able to work independently, as well as a member of a diverse team, where productive relationships are developed and maintained;
• Strong proficiency with Word and Outlook
Assets
• Post-secondary studies in political science, law, St’át’imc or Indigenous governance, public policy, or related field
• Familiarity with constitutional or governance documents
• Experience working with Indigenous organisations
