Mental Health and Substance Use Worker | Youth

Position Summary

We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Worker to join our high functioning and well-integrated MHSU Youth Substance Use Counselling & Treatment team. The position is based out of Lillooet. This position will support Youth Substance Use Counselling and Treatment in Lillooet, Lytton & Ashcroft.

This service will focus on psychosocial interventions and connections for youth aged 12-24 (with priority to youth from 12-18) and their families, with a biopsychosocial-spiritual frame for youth with moderate to severe substance use concerns. Local travel is involved.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for is a highly skilled and compassionate MHSU Worker with experience in youth-focused, high-intensity case management for substance use and mental health concerns. The ideal candidate should excel in interdisciplinary collaboration, client-centered care, and evidence-based treatment delivery.

What Will You Work On?

The Substance Use Worker functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. The Substance Use Worker provides assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Substance Use Worker functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Scheduling Information:

Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours and days of work are Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license (Class 5).

You are required to hold a valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5) and may be required to drive a personal car on mileage and /or be assigned a fleet vehicle as a condition of employment.”
