JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Youth & Elders Coordinator is to support Cayoose Creek Band (CCB) Youth & Elders by organizing social, emotional, physical, cultural, and recreational activities. Additionally, this position will work collaboratively with other departments to schedule meetings, events, and group outings. The Youth & Elder’s Coordinator will also be responsible for the development and implementation of new culturally inclusive Youth & Elder’s programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, and cultural events (e.g., traditional crafts, harvesting, storytelling, language revitalization).
  • Facilitate seasonal intergenerational retreats, workshops, and land-based camps that bring youth and Elders together.
  • Incorporate Elders as knowledge keepers to ensure programs reflect community values and local Indigenous protocols.
  • Facilitate regular Elders meetings, luncheons, and cultural gatherings, including coordinating hospitality and transportation.
  •  Deliver culturally grounded, trauma-informed programming that promotes leadership, self-esteem, and cultural identity.
  • Establish a safe, welcoming, and inclusive youth drop-in environment.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, handle program referrals, and ensure confidentiality.
  • Create monthly activity calendars and communicate effectively with the community.
  • Assist with budget tracking, program reporting, and grant/proposal writing to secure continued funding.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A Certificate or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, Recreation, or a related human services field.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills MS Word, Excel, Email and Power point.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and proactive
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s licence would be an asset

Salary Range: $25 to $ 29 / hour depending on skills and qualifications
Term: Indefinite (upon completion of probation)
Scope: Full Time, 35 hours per week
