Bridge River Indian Band Lands Department is seeking an individual(s) to fill Seasonal Land Stewardship Technicians positions. The Land Stewardship Technician supports community safety, ecological health, and land?based stewardship activities through hands?on field work. This position primarily delivers Fire Smart home?mitigation activities and fisheries monitoring, with additional support for land?based or environmental projects as required.

The Technician works outdoors in community and natural settings and plays an important role in protecting homes from wildfire risk, supporting fisheries monitoring, and assisting with stewardship initiatives that contribute to long?term land and resource health.
Key Responsibilities
Fire Smart & Community Wildfire Resiliency
• Conduct Fire Smart activities around homes and structures, including:
− Removal of fine fuels and organic material within recommended setback distances
− Weed?whacking, pruning, and vegetation management
− Relocating combustible debris to designated areas away from structures
− Follow Fire Smart Canada and local program guidelines
− Work respectfully with homeowners and community members
− Maintain safe, clean, and professional work sites
− Other duties as assigned by the Lands Coordinator, Lands Director and Administrator
Fish Monitoring
• Assist with fisheries monitoring activities
• Support fish counts and monitoring of harvested fish
• Collect and handle fish scale samples accurately
• Record field data clearly and follow established protocols
• Work cooperatively with fisheries staff and community members
Land-Based Stewardship Support
• Assist with environmental or land?based stewardship projects as assigned
• Work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions
• Follow safety procedures and use tools and PPE appropriately
• Support team activities and contribute to overall program goals
Required Qualifications:
• Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, verbal and written
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work safely
• Ability to work independently and part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
• Valid Driver’s License, have a reliable vehicle
• Must pass a criminal record check
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Fire Smart, landscaping, forestry, or fuel?management work
• Experience in fisheries monitoring or environmental field work
• Experience working with or for a Band
• Familiarity with local lands, culture, or stewardship practices
Working Conditions:
• Primarily outdoor field work
• Physical tasks, bending, lifting, and walking required
• Work in varying weather conditions
• Occasional weekend work may be required depending on program needs
Wage: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour minimum and depending upon experience and skills
