Summer Business & Community Engagement Assistant
The Lillooet Chamber of Commerce is seeking an energetic, confident, and community-oriented individual to join our team as a Summer Business & Community Engagement Assistant. This role will include duties of member engagement, marketing, communications, and event management with local businesses and community partners.
Reporting to the Chamber Board of Directors this position will focus on visiting members at their business locations, potential members and community partners, supporting outreach and communications, curating social media content, assisting with events, and maintaining member information in our record system. The role will also support the promotion of the Chamber’s membership value, and assist with developing and executing marketing initiatives.
SUMMER CONTRACT POSITION: JUNE TO SEPTEMBER 2026
TOTAL CONTRACT REMUNERTION: $11,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Engagement & Outreach
- Visit local businesses to support engagement and relationship building.
- Support member outreach through phone calls and email communication.
- Develop segmented lists to support targeted member outreach and business engagement within Lillooet.
- Renew and increase Chamber memberships.
- Support member database updates.
- Coordinate with key community partners and the Economic Development Liasson.
- Assisting members with information
Marketing, Communications & Membership Value
- Curate and create content for Chamber social media channels.
- Capture photos and short videos at member visits and events.
- Support the promotion of membership and Chamber programs.
- Assist with developing and executing marketing initiatives to enhance member profiles in the local marketplace including member spotlights and narratives.
- Marketing local services and products from various industries and business types
- Monitor and manage the Chamber email account.
Events & Project Support
- Assist with planning, setup, delivery, and breakdown of Chamber events.
- Support on-site coordination, registration, and member engagement.
- Participate in occasional weekend events such as festivals and farmers markets.
- Provide general administrative and logistical support related to Chamber activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence engaging with business owners and community members.
- Comfortable making calls, visiting businesses, and working independently.
- Interest in marketing, communications, business, or community development.
- Proficiency with Canva
- Experience or interest in social media, photography, or video content creation is an asset.
- Organized, adaptable, and able to manage varied tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is an asset.
- Access to a vehicle is an asset.
The ideal candidate is a self-led individual that is outgoing, enjoys conversing with others, and who wants to learn more about the local businesses in Lillooet. This job is a great learning experience to get to know local contacts and grow administrative skills.

Applicants must meet all Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, including:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection status.
Be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess a valid Social Insurance Number.
Be available to work for the full duration of the placement.
