POSITION: Elders Cleaner
WORK HOURS: Part time position, up to 20 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Health Manager
SUPERVISES: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate can work effectively in constantly changing conditions while maintaining excellent performance. The successful candidate will take accountability for the maintenance and operations of our Indigenous programs — from cleaning the homes of the community Elders to preparing meals. The ideal candidate has strong connections with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-led organizations, and Indigenous-led social change movements in Lillooet and surrounding areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a safe, effective environment
  • Promote cleanliness and wellness
  • Listening, analyzing information and focusing on quality
  • Physical ability to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop. Kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Assist or help with the Elders laundry, pick up, wash, dry, sort and fold
  • Assist or help with meal preparation, cooking, baking and store
  • Assist or help with household cleaning: sweeping, mopping, dishes, make and/or replace clean linen, dusting and other tasks needed Collect and dispose waste/recycling
  • Collect and dispose waste/recycling
  • Wash walls, ceiling, windows, and sanitize and disinfect common areas
  • Sort, clean and organize closets, pantries, cupboards
  • Respond to complaints and inquires of homeowner and other tasks needed.
  • Perform other related duties that do not affect the nature of the job, including participating on project task teams or assisting with special assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned;

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED an asset
  • Have experience in Cleaning Services
  • Valid WHMIS certification;
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certification and CPR
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License
  • Comply with Criminal Record Check;

PREFERABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Communications – information sharing and networking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to work daytime, evening and weekend hours as required based on needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with community Elders and
    members
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize task efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • For this position, the candidate must be of Indigenous ancestry (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)

SALARY RANGE: $ 20 – 24 / hour depending on qualifications and experience
TERM: based on funding
