About the Opportunity
SGS is looking for a full-time, Environment Project Coordinator based in Lillooet, BC.
The Environment Project Coordinator supports the St’át’imc Government Services (SGS) Environment Department through project coordination, co-management and leadership of environmental fieldwork and project initiatives. This position shares project delivery responsibility with another co-manager, leading shared staff on specific programs related to environmental monitoring, forestry, fisheries, and community engagement. The role requires strong communication, planning, and matrix management skills to coordinate work across SGS teams and communities. The Project Coordinator integrates St’át’imc cultural values into all aspects of program delivery.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project Leadership & Matrix Management

Co-lead environmental field programs and technical projects.

Assign, coordinate, and oversee staff tasks, schedules, and deliverables.

Provide project-specific guidance, coaching, and performance feedback in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Environment Manager.
Technical Advisory (BC Hydro & Related Projects)
-
Participate in implementation meetings, technical working groups, and advisory committees (LTWG, Seton Bypass, Bridge River WUP).
-
Review Environmental Management Plans and provide technical advice for ongoing and emerging projects.
Technical Program Delivery
-
Conduct fisheries, wildlife, vegetation, aquatic, and water quality field assessments.

Coordinate forestry and wildlife recovery initiatives, including monitoring and mitigation.

Develop and manage data protocols and lead engagement activities (workshops, open houses, education sessions).
-
Support land-use and species-at-risk monitoring programs.
Community Engagement & Indigenous Knowledge
-
Engage St’át’imc communities to integrate Indigenous Knowledge and cultural values into project planning and delivery.

Provide ecological technical advice and represent SGS at stakeholder meetings, advancing St’át’imc priorities.
Grant, Project Coordination & Administration
-
Lead grant development, reporting, and tracking; manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.

Maintain project documentation, reporting metrics, and performance indicators.
Reporting, Safety & Organizational Development
-
Prepare workplans, monthly updates, final, and scientific reports ensuring data integrity and compliance.

Promote a respectful, safety-first culture, support cross-department collaboration, and contribute to continuous learning and departmental growth.
About You
To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline, along with 5 years of relevant experience in natural resource or environmental program delivery, ideally coordinating projects in First Nations or Indigenous governance settings, and demonstrated success working in field conditions and managing multiple concurrent tasks . An equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
The following are required:

A valid driver’s license, a clean driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle

Ability and willingness to travel within the territory which spans from extends north to Churn Creek and to South French Bar; northwest to the headwaters of Bridge River; north and east toward Hat Creek Valley; east to the Big Slide; south to the island on Harrison Lake and west of the Fraser River to the headwaters of Lillooet River, Ryan River and Black Tusk.

Ability to undergo a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

RPF and/or RPB designation or other relevant designation, Project Management Certification and experience with environmental data analysis preferred.

Wildlife, Fisheries, RISC, or equivalent field certifications is an asset.

Familiarity with legislation: BC Environmental Assessment Act, Water Sustainability Act, Species at Risk Act, etc.

Ability to co-lead staff in a matrix reporting environment.
-
Strong project coordination, communication, and facilitation abilities.
