This role will ensure integration across technical disciplines — including geology, operations, and safety — to support short- and long-range mine planning, optimize ore extraction, and drive continuous improvement as the site advances toward steady-state production.
This position is ideal for an experienced professional who combines strong technical acumen with hands-on leadership in an underground mining environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead and mentor a team of mine and technical services engineers, ensuring high technical standards and professional growth.
-
Oversee the preparation and execution of short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans and designs.
-
Provide engineering input into daily, weekly, and monthly production planning and performance reviews.
-
Collaborate closely with Geology, Operations, and Safety to ensure designs and schedules align with resource models and operational objectives.
-
Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
-
Lead the implementation of engineering systems, planning software, and data management tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
-
Support life-of-mine planning, infrastructure design, and capital project evaluations.
-
Monitor and report on key technical metrics, identifying opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
-
Provide input into budgeting, forecasting, and risk management for the Technical Services department.
-
Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or related discipline.
-
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or eligibility for registration in BC) required.
-
10–15 years of progressive experience in underground mine engineering, including technical and supervisory responsibilities.

-
Strong understanding of mine operations, ventilation, ground control, and infrastructure design.
-
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
-
Proficiency with mine design and scheduling software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine).
-
Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
-
Experience supporting operations during transition from development to production considered a strong asset.
