Position: Janitor for O&M and Housing Building

Department: Operations and Maintenance

Reports to: Kevin Whitney – O&M Foreman

Compensation: $19-$22 per hour based on experience

Hours: 3 Days a Week, 2 Hours per Day

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Janitor is responsible for the hygiene and tidiness of the T’ít’q’et Youth Centre, and the O&M and Housing offices at 59 Retasket Street. The Janitor will be available to work three 2-hour shifts a week afterhours (4pm-8am, Mon-Fri). We are looking to hire a reliable and trustworthy Janitor to maintain a clean and tidy space.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs janitorial services to include all tasks outlined in the attached schedule and the following:

  • empties waste baskets, cleans ashtrays and removes miscellaneous garbage

  • dusts and washes all desks and furniture in offices, reception areas and meeting rooms

  • vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas

  • cleans and sanitizes washroom sinks, toilets and floors

  • ensure all washrooms stocked with paper towels, tissue, soap, and other products

  • washes and cleans all dishes as required

  • washes the inside of all windows

  • washes and waxes all linoleum floors as required

  • cleans and provides regular maintenance of janitorial equipment

  • wipe down walls, windows, doors as required

  • Inventories cleaning supplies and equipment, and forwards purchase requests to the O&M Foreman.

  • Keeps supervisor updated on any issues

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position, and as assigned

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Understanding of health and safety regulations

  • Ability to keep an organized record of cleaning supply inventory

  • Problem-solving skills

  • WIHMS knowledge

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer Grade 12 and/or first year post-secondary courses.

  • Prefer class 5 or higher drivers’ license
