Whistler Therapeutics d.b.a Earthwolf Farms

Lillooet, BC-Hybrid work

$70,000–$85,000 a year - Full-time

Job details

Pay: $70,000–$85,000 a year

Whistler Therapeutics (dba EarthWolf Farms) is a medically focused cannabis company located in Lillooet, BC. We operate a certified organic farm and use solventless extraction processes to make cannabis concentrates and oils which are sold to medical and adult use consumers across Canada. Solventless production of cannabis extracts is a relatively new process and due to the recent legalization of cannabis, there is little to no scientific informational about this process. We are looking for a self driven scientist to help us learn about these processes so we can improve them.

This is a hybrid position with 24-32 hours of wet lab work performed onsite in Lillooet and 8-16 hours of office work for a total of 40 hours, which can be performed remotely or onsite.

The Candidate

We are looking for a passionate research professional who enjoys wet lab work! You must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50lbs to move materials and equipment to conduct experiments. You should have experience creating and analyzing large data sets with multiple variables. Our site is located in an area without public transit, and a vehicle would be required to get to and from work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform experiments to better understand ice water extraction and rosin pressing to improve yields, efficiency and product quality

  • Create extraction protocols for members of the production team to follow to collect useful data from regular production

  • Oversee and coordinate members of the production team to ensure proper data collection

  • Analyze production and yield data to create valuable insights

  • Create summaries of results for review by the management team

Qualifications

  • MSc/PhD (or B.Sc. with significant research work experience) – Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology preferred

  • 2-3 years experience planning and performing experiments in a research setting

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work independently and with other team members
