The Xwísten Agri-Farm is seeking interested Workers that will be an essential part of the Xwísten Agriculture Farm team, contributing to the development and the daily operations of a proud Xwísten Farm. You will help cultivate a thriving operation focused on sustainable community food production, security, and sovereignty. As well as this can be an opportunity to become more experienced in the food systems world, and to advance in different roles at the Xwísten Farm.

The Xwísten Farm will blend traditional and modern agricultural techniques, with responsibilities including land preparation, seeding, crop care and maintenance, and harvesting. This is a full-time, seasonal position lasting up to 16 weeks, with the potential for extension depending on funding availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out daily on-site work at the Xwísten Agriculture Farm Site (“Agri-Site”)

• Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.

• Follow daily work plans as directed by the Xwísten Lead Farm Hand Worker.

• Work cooperatively as part of a team to support a respectful, positive, and productive work environment.

• Consistently follow safe working practices and procedures.

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and ensure it is maintained in good condition.

• Participate in all stages of farming, land prep, seeding, weeding, irrigation, crop care, and harvesting.

• Operate farm tools, equipment, and machinery safely and correctly.

• Perform minor maintenance and ensure proper care and cleaning of tools and equipment.

• Store all tools, materials, and equipment securely at the end of each day.

• Assist in securing the Agri-Site premises at the end of each day.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of growing crops

• Good work ethic and positive attitude

• Good communication skills, verbal and written

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

• Knowledge and understanding of Xwísten community, culture and challenges

• Must be physically able to walk, stand and occasionally lift heavy items

• Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Valid Driver’s License, have a reliable vehicle and willing to travel is an asset

• Level 1 first aid ticket bonus

Wage Rate: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour depending upon experience
