Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary

The Lillooet Medical Clinic is seeking a Permanent Full Time Nurse Practitioner to join a collaborative, team-based primary care model that provides comprehensive services to individuals and families across the full continuum of care—from prenatal and early childhood through to end of life. This position is primarily clinic-based with a strong focus on longitudinal primary care and inclusive long-term care (LTC) and includes Most Responsible Provider (MRP) responsibilities. The NP will be fully integrated into the interdisciplinary team and will participate in roster panel management, proactive attachment, and coordinated care planning. As an MRP, the NP will be required to obtain and maintain privileging and credentialing with Interior Health.

Care delivery occurs in close collaboration with physicians, nurses, Indigenous health partners, and allied health professionals. In addition to clinic-based services, the role includes providing outreach care in partnership with surrounding First Nation communities, supporting clients and families in navigating the health system and accessing culturally safe, appropriate services. Outreach spans a wide range of needs, including prenatal care, well-child visits, chronic disease management, mental health support, medically complex patients, and palliative care.The clinic is committed to delivering high-quality, client-centred, and culturally safe primary care for people of all ages. This includes comprehensive care for attached LTC residents, continuity for patients across care settings, and participation in shared, physician-supported on-call services where applicable.

Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.

Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.

Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.

Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.

Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.

Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.

Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.

Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well-being.

Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Policy Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.

Palliative and Long-Term Care: Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• Current registration and exam-qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
