POSITION: Land Code Development Coordinator
WORK HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 35 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Administrator
JOB SUMMARY
The Cayoose Creek Band (CCB) is looking to fill a temporary 18-Month Term position which may be come permanent within our Lands Division. The Land Code Development Coordinator will be responsible for the development and ratification of a FNLMA Land Code to replace the land management provisions of the Indian Act and RLEMP. Remote work will be considered to the right candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project work plan to ensure that the Land Code goals and objectives are being met;

  • Utilizing appropriate project management techniques to meet deadlines, manage resources and meet reporting requirements;

  • Ensuring all Eligible Voters and other stakeholders are provided with accurate information on each phase of the Land Code project in a timely manner and meeting specific deadlines, while utilizing appropriate and cost-effective communications methodologies;

  • Communicates effectively with Administrator, Lands Managers, Community Members and others as required and ensures all are fully aware of the progress of the Land Code project;

  • Communicates effectively and in a professional manner with Lands Advisory Board Resource Centre, Natural Resources Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, Environmental consultant, Legal Counsel and others as required;

  • Attends meetings and appropriate training events related to the Land Code project to remain current and up-to-date on topics of concern relating to project development, opportunities, development;

  • Manage the ratification process while ensuring all eligible voters have an opportunity to cast their ballot;

  • Prepares the necessary documentation to facilitate the ratification and adoption of the Land Code and Individual Agreement;

  • Participates in community events as requested;

  • Other duties/tasks as required and as assigned.

  •  Knowledge of the First Nation Land Management Act;

  •  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships;

  •  Excellent communication skills with ability to work with people from various backgrounds;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;

  • Strong project coordination skills;

  • Conflict resolution skills;

  •  Strong time management and planning skills with ability to prioritize;

  • Able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision as well as working within a collaborative team framework;

  • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office;

Qualifications

  • Individual of professional presentation with a post-secondary Diploma in a relevant field;

  • Two (2) years’ experience working in filed related to relevant post-secondary certificate;

  •  Experience in a position that requires consultation and planning as a focus;

  •  Experience facilitating meetings (community, focus groups, etc.), presentations and workshops;

  •  Professional communication skills; including written, oral, and social media communication

  • Strong organizational skills

  •  Proficient computer skills, including document formatting and file management

  •  Strong knowledge of the vision and goals of the Cayoose Creek Band (Sekw’el’was)

  • Successful completion of a criminal record check

  •  Class 5 Drivers License.

Salary Range: $26.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
Term: 18 months (upon completion of probation)
Scope: Full Time, 35 Hour Per Week
