XWISTEN LANDS – FIRESMART FIELD CREW MEMBER(s)

Part – Time Seasonal Positions
The Xwisten Lands is in search of 2 highly skilled and energetic individuals to be a FireSmart crew members. The FireSmart crew members will primarily focus on these activities while also extending their assistance to other areas as required such as firewood structure, construction, and assembly. FireSmart crew members will provide ongoing community education to inform residents on the FireSmart program and increase general awareness of FireSmart mitigation protocols and implement activities in a culturally appropriate manner. Implement targeted mitigation strategies and activities around residential properties and Critical Infrastructure to reduce the spread of wildfire during wildfire season. Clear vegetation and decrease availability of combustible material to create defensible space around homes and Critical Infrastructure.
MAIN DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Ability to take & follow direction of FireSmart Coordinator/Heritage Supervisor.
2) Contribute to teamwork environment as well as work independently.
3) Have excellent communication skills and ability to problem solve.
4) Must be able and willing to perform field work in a variety of environmental conditions.
5) Ability to operate weed trimmer/power pruners/hand tools for mitigation.
6) Follow Lands Check-in & Check-out Procedures and complete daily tailgate safety meetings and attend all Lands Monthly Safety meetings.
7) Attend meetings as requested by FireSmart Coordinator/Heritage supervisor.
8) Participate in training as directed.
9) Other duties as requested by FireSmart Coordinator/Heritage Supervisor Lead /Administration and Chief & Council.
REQUIREMENTS
− Valid Level 1 First Aid & Transportation Endorsement Certified
− Basic Power saw Operator Certification is an asset.
− Strong verbal and communication skills.
− Able to work independently and as part of a team.
− Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
− Valid Class 5 driver’s license, and abstract is an asset.
− Good physical condition to work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
− Field work/Mitigation
Wage: $25.00
Deadline: July 18, 2025
Contract Term: between when filled to August 29, 2025 pending work availability, occasional weekend(s) and work hours up to 12 hours a day.
